Canyon's digital technology program is not meant to replace books, pencil, or paper but to supplement student education. Students today are using computers in the classroom to be creative and innovative all the while using critical thinking and digital citizenship skills. My goal is for students by the time they leave Canyon to have the skills to communicate, collaborate, and create to better understand the digital world they will use later in their education as well as in life. Over the last few years with the advancement in technology and the increase of usage of devices by students it is important students practice good Digital Citizenship both at school and at home. It is our mission with the assistance of parents and all stakeholders that students learn that how they use digital devices and what they share and post online begins to create their Digital Footprint.

The expectations of the Common Core State Standards include the full integration of technology into all standards. Technology is used to acquire digital skills and to demonstrate what has has been learned. Canyon Charter has invested in the future of our children with the goal to provide a 1-1 Chromebook ratio in all grades. All grades Kindergarten thru 5th grade receive in-class computer instruction once a week.
